Backpage is legally known as a classified ads website. In the underground world, Backpage became known as the “sex for sale” site. Whatever it was for you…..Backpage is no more. The site has been seized by Federal Law Enforcement agencies on Friday.
CNN(@cnn) reports, if you go to Backpage.com right now, you will be greeted with a banner on the page that says “backpage.com and affiliated websites have been seized as part of an enforcement action by the FBI, US Postal Inspection Service, and the IRS Criminal Investigation Division.” A spokesperson for the Justice Department confirmed to CNN that the website had been seized and that additional information would be provided after 6pm EST. Sorry, but it looks like you are going to need to find a new place to go if you happen to be in the “buying or selling” sex game.
