2000 FORMER DOJ & FBI OFFICIALS CALL ON BILL BARR TO RESIGN OVER MICHAEL FLYNN CASE

WASHINGTON, D.C.     5/11/2020     2:57pm(est)

On Monday, nearly 2000 former Justice Department and FBI officials signed an open letter strongly critical of current Attorney General Bill Barr’s decision not to prosecute the Michael Flynn case after Flynn had already pleaded guilty to multiple charges, Including lying to the FBI. The letter called Barr’s actions “extremely rare” and “unprecedented.”

NBC NEWS (@nbcnews) reported, the letter said, if anyone else who is not a friend of the president “were to lie to federal investigators in the course of a properly predicated counterintelligence investigation, and admit we did so under oath, we could be prosecuted.” The letter goes on to call for Barr’s resignation and for Congress to censure Barr over “his repeated assaults on the rule of law in doing the president’s bidding rather than acting in the public interest.”
