5 CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS FACE CHARGES AFTER INMATES SUFFER INJURIES

COLUMBUS, GEORGIA

Correctional Officers Lamar Holland, Keonta Anderson, Quantavious Lewis, Jeffery Wentz, and Travaris Horton, are facing charges stemming from a September 22nd incident at Rutledge State Prison. According to a report from WTVM-9, Co’s: Horton, Anderson, and Wentz, beat inmate Shawn Huerter, leaving him with substantial injuries.

A warrant issued for the correctional Officers’ arrests said, Horton punched the inmate while he was in handcuffs, and Lewis witnessed the assault, but did nothing to prevent it.

In a separate incident on September 20th, C/O Holland allegedly beat an inmate causing him visible head and finger injuries. Holland is being charged with battery for that assault. Lewis and Horton are charged with a felony count of violation of oath by a public officer. Wentz and Anderson are being charged with battery for the beating of inmate Huerter.
