The universe just won’t allow us Philadelphians to have nice things, will it? Even though the Embiid news is shocking, it’s not really unexpected is it? If it is, then you must not have been a fan of Philadelphia sports teams for very long.

A report from CBS-3 Philly, was where I heard the bad news first. 76ers star and MVP candidate, Joel Embiid will be out for the “foreseeable future”, with a right orbital fracture and a mild concussion. Embiid got the injury late in the 76er’s blowout game-6 win Thursday night at Toronto’s SCOTIABANK ARENA.

The 76ers are set to begin their round 2 series against the Miami Heat on Monday. Embiid had this type of injury once before. He was out for about three weeks! Embiid was also reported to have already been playing through a right thumb injury, before these newest setbacks.

I watched a few games in the Miami-Atlanta game-1 series. Trey Young, who? If it’s one thing the Heat seems to be good at doing, it’s taking an opponent’s primary scorer completely out of the game and making him basically irrelevant. Leaving a team to rely on their number 2 or 3 guy, if they want to beat the Heat. This would’ve worked out perfectly for the 76ers…..if Embiid were playing. Once Miami doubles and triple teams Harden, who steps up to get consistent buckets outside of Maxey? Yeah, without Embiid, I’d be surprised if the 76ers grabbed more than one game in this series. A hard pill to swallow as a 76ers fan, but it is a pill that’s based in reality from where I’m sitting.
