The alleged triggerman that killed at least 10 people has been identified as a 18-year old, Payton Gendron, a white male. A report from NBC News, said the suspect was reportedly dressed in tactical riot gear as he entered the supermarket. The white male likely picked the supermarket because it was located in a black neighborhood.

“This was pure evil. Straight up racially motivated, hate crime from somebody outside of our community – outside of the city of Good Neighbors, as the Mayor said – coming into our community and trying to inflict evil upon us.” Erie County Sheriff, John Garcia said at a news conference.
The suspect is reported to be from “a distant part of the state”, according to Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia. He was also reportedly live-streaming the entire massacre.

Eleven of the shooting victims were black, and two were white, according to Gramaglia. Four victims were store employees, including the security guard, who confronted the shooter, but was quickly overwhelmed by the shooter.

The suspect reportedly had the “N” word written or carved onto one of his weapons, according to police and F.B.I Officials investigating the case. Four of the victims were reportedly shot outside of the store, before the shooter walked inside of the supermarket and continued firing rounds at bystanders.
