Khalil, who reportedly owns the building, was reportedly captured in surveillance images going in and out of the building before it caught fire. Khalil was reportedly questioned about the fire by police. He reportedly fled the country after being questioned by investigators about the blaze.

“Khalil allegedly told investigators, provided false information to the investigators about where he was at the time he learned of the fire. This information, as alleged in the criminal complaint, is directly contradicted by the video surveillance, and in fact his own voice which was recorded by surveillance equipment”, said first assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District Of Pennsylvania.

ATF notified officials in Jordan. Khalil was denied entry upon arrival and sent back to the United States. He was arrested when his flight landed at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York.
