Police officers responding to a call of a woman screaming in West Philadelphia overnight, led to police witnessing a woman being shot as she ran from a home on the block.

A 6 ABC Action News report said the wild chain of events began in the area of Farson & Race Streets at around 2 a.m. on Thursday morning.
First responding police officers at the scene reported seeing two women running from a home when they arrived. A suspect reportedly shot one of the women, before running back into the house. Police called in the SWAT team and the scene quickly turned into a barricade situation. The injured woman was rushed to a nearby hospital by police. She was last reported to be in critical condition.
SWAT and police breached the home a short time later only to discover that the suspect had escaped. No arrests have been made at this time.
