An unidentified 34-year old man was reportedly shot multiple times and killed while sitting in his car next to his wife, in the Rhawnhurst neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia early this morning.
A 6 ABC Action News report said the shooting happened on the 7400 block of Whitaker Avenue near Bleigh Avenue at around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday morning.
Witnesses told investigators that two gunmen were sitting in a vehicle waiting for the victim to come home. When he (the victim) pulled into the driveway of his home with his wife in the passenger’s seat, the two suspects reportedly ran up on the victim’s truck and fired at least 30-shots at the vehicle. 15 of those 30-shots found their targets. First arriving police officers at the scene rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. The wife’s condition was not reported. A possible motive for the shooting was not reported.
Investigators said the shots were fired from two different weapons. Investigators also said they have video footage from the shooting, but no suspects have been named and no arrests have been made at this time.
