ARMED BANDITS USE AX TO BREAK INTO NORTH PHILLY STORE

Two masked and armed robbers reportedly broke into a grocery store with an ax in North Philadelphia early on Wednesday morning, and then proceeded to hold the store up once inside.

A report from KYW-News Radio said the incident happened at the Yahya Grocery Store located on the 800 block of West Venango Street at around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

One of the suspects reportedly used an ax to break the plexiglass door to get inside of the establishment. Once inside the store, the other suspect pointed his weapon at the cashier and demanded money. Investigators said the pair made off with around $750 in cash and two cartons of cigarettes. No one was physically injured during the robbery.

No arrests have been made at this time.
